Hello Track Attackers:
Please note races at Mono Nordic are cancelled and postponed until February 11th
See everyone at Highlands instead :)
Hello all,
This weekend (Saturday January 28th) are the Mono Nordic races in Orangeville at Monora Park. It is usually a fun low key meet. However, the trail conditions this year are not stellar
but they still would like to pull it off and are going to hold an interval start skate race starting at 10am and then some fun skate relays after lunch.
For those that are interested please sign up on zone 4 by Thursday midnight to enter. I would suggest waiting till Thursday evening in case they do decide to cancel at the last minute.
If you plan on going please reply to this email so we can help organize coaching/warm-ups/bib pick-up etc. accordingly for the event.
(FYI Coach Dave is working this W/E, Coach Mike is out of town, Connie will lead training this weekend at Highlands)

TA Coaches
Hope everyone is having an enjoyable start to the season.
A few reminders : Please have your skier dressed for the weather. Have a look at the outside temperature at Highlands before sending your skier outside. If it is -10C and below have mitts available instead of gloves, as well
as balaclavas and wearing more layers of clothing.
Have your skier bring a water bottle each day to the lesson as they will be thirsty following the activity and their bodies need to be rehydrated.
For those families who participated last year...there is a box (beside the equipment in the corner) full of last years water bottles that were left behind. Have a look and see if any are yours to be reclaimed.
Cross country Canada has put out a challenge to all Jackrabbits this year. They would like a jackrabbit to design the JR toque for next season. We are able to send 5 designs from Highlands Trailblazers. If your skier is interested
have them submit a design (place them in the envelope on the jackrabbit news bulletin board by February 25/26 @ 3pm) on the given template for the Highlands Trailblazer Board to review for consideration.
Please go to the links for further information.
Thanks and let me know if there ?/comments/concerns/suggestions,
Connie

Hi all: So this winter continues to be challenging to race organizers. Both the Wasaga Loppet, and Suntrail originally scheduled for this weekend have been postponed until the 2nd weekend of February. We will continue with regular training on Sat morning (skate technique), but work on skiis for those going to the Muskoka Loppet on Sunday. If you aren’t coming over for training but going up to Huntsville, you can contact me for a wax update. I will be prepared to help with waxing up there as well. We will be leaving here at the Highlands at 7:00am and should be there in good time for the start. Also have attached some guidelines/suggestions for training leading up to the Easterns in Ottawa. If you have any questions, just drop me a line. L

Hi all: Not quite the weekend I was originally hoping for but at least we are still skiing! The biathlon group will be doing time trials both Sat and Sunday, and anyone that is not involved with that can continue with training. Suggest that we will do classic Sat morning and skate in the afternoon. It will likely be busy in the Chalet so we can base ourselves out of the wax trailer. See you Saturday.
Track Attack Athletes and Parents: Plan will be to skate ski on Saturday and Classic on Sunday. Same routine as last weekend.
For those who went to Thunder Bay here are some pictures taken by Jon Nelson: http://www.jon-nelson.com/category/cross-country-skiing.

Hello all: For this coming weekend we should plan on training as per usual at 9:30 for the morning and then work on skis for anyone that is racing on Sunday in Midland Sno Dogs race. Would like to encourage anyone not on a travelling team to enter the race via www.zone4.ca. I will plan on leaving Highlands at 7:00am and be available to help people with grip waxing. I can take some people or gear. With both techniques it should be a fun race! See you on Saturday. Cheers L
